It's been some time since we last added a new game to our list of databases. We've hoped to remedy that and offer up not one but
new databases. One is the bright, colourful, and cheerful
. The other is the dark and apocalyptic (and highly requested)
by Target Games and Heartbreaker Hobbies. We hope you enjoy them!
Both of these new games are powered by an entirely new codebase and database structure that we hope to merge all the existing games into over the coming weeks. While we've done a number of testing passes on the new code, it's very likely some bugs remain and will crop up as others start to use the functionality of the new games. Should you uncover an error, please do not hesitate to contact us - you can either use the contact form found in the sidebar or reach out to us directly on our Discord server; once we get the report, we'll get our fine team of code monkeys dispatched to correct the error.
(As a note: resources, including rules books and other documents, for both of these games will be coming in the next couple days. The new codebase had a little trouble interfacing with our previous resource setup...)
On the topic of the data within the new databases, it was provided by wonderful members of our community and, without them, we would likely still be attempting to pull together such high quality data sets for the games. But even with as many eyes as passed over the data and images, there's a chance that we may have inaccurately entered some information; if you should happen to come across any such errors, you can use the reporting feature in the bottom right hand of the card detail modal (opened by either clicking or tapping on the card in the database). Alternatively, you can contact us on Discord and we'll get the data fixed as quickly as possible.
Additionally, we're happy to finally launch our official Card Game Geek Store
! While you've previously been able to find lots of our inventory on eBay - everything from singles to sealed packs for all the games we carry, including a number not in our databases yet - having the store directly in our hands will give us a lot more fine tuned control and be able to bring you more compared to the eBay interface. And everything will still be available on the eBay store as well, giving you a choice of where you'd like to get your cards from.
This isn't the end of updates making their way to the site in the coming days. By the end of March, we hope to have the following ready to go on the site:
- VS System game database
- Terminator CCG game database
- user submitted articles and content
- numerous optimizations and bug fixes across the site
Additionally, we have the following planned for the near future but are still in the steps of determining an appropriate timeframe for them:
- Blood Wars game database
- Warlord: Saga of the Storm game database
- Buffy the Vampire Slayer CCG game database
As said previously, we wouldn't be able to assemble many of these databases without the contributions of our wonderful community members. If you'd like to contribute to getting one of your favourite games into our database, reach out to us on Discord (you may see a pattern developing here - we strongly encourage joining us on Discord!) and we'll see what we can do about getting the game into our queue of upcoming databases.
Additionally, while we'll continue making posts like this for large features as they go live, you can follow along with the day-to-day changes and bug fixes through Rahvin's update feed
on Twitter. For those of you who really don't want to follow along on Twitter but are still interested in the smaller changes being made to the site, have no fear: they will be assembled here in our Site Update
section in a weekly post.
